More on this terrible and senseless tragedy

More on this terrible and senseless tragedy – Everyone everywhere is more than shocked.  We can think of nothing else!!!!

Please pass this on, and share with everyone. I made this as a way for people to remember the 26 names of those that matter most, not the 1 name the media chooses to exploit.

Andrew O’Hehir: “I would suggest that these atrocities tend to occur in a culture with numerous fundamental problems: one that is economically divided and socially stratified, with a dark undercurrent of male anxiety and anger, one where high-powered firearms with no legitimate uses are far too easy to find, where the social safety net has been shredded and decent mental-health care is not available to all, and where our experience of the world is increasingly as a shared media spectacle.”
How America’s toxic culture breeds mass murder
Mass shooters in the U.S. are almost always men — angry men who can get guns more easily than mental health care

From Margi: Please read this, especially if you’re an educator or health professional, or if you otherwise might find yourself educating members of the general public who are searching for answers. It’s written by a person who has Asperger’s – who is worried that the label “Asperger’s” will ignorantly come to be associated with tendencies toward murderous psychosis. NOT TRUE!!!
Daily Kos: They’re Saying the Shooter Had Asperger’s.
The shooter at Sandy Hook is being reported as having had Asperger’s Syndrome – an autistic spectrum disorder …

The rampage ended when Lanza apparently took his own life in a classroom. With him were three firearms: a semiautomatic .223-caliber rifle made by Bushmaster and two handguns, a Glock and a Sig Sauer.Connecticut law requires gun owners to be at least 21. The guns, authorities said, belonged to his mother.

What??? A Semiautomatic too? And they all belonged to his mother??? What mother would have so many weapons in the house, and obviously, accessible. And she died by her own weapons and by her son’s hand. Truly unbelievable and irrational…
Adam Lanza: Suspect’s friends, family at a loss to explain Connecticut shooting
As with any murder-suicide, the suspect in the Sandy Hook Elementary School took to his grave the reasons that compelled him to kill more than two dozen people before taking his own life in the second-deadliest school shooting in U.S. history.

About martisima

After over 50 years of teaching literature to undergraduate and graduate students, I feel I have earned my retirement (it happened when I was 72, five years ago). I do miss the classroom, however, but not the meetings and all other requirements of the profession. I love teaching, and wish I could still do it. But now I read for pleasure, and watch films, and listen to all kinds of music (no TV, though). I love to travel, and hope I can resume doing it soon. I need to get over my health issues caused by thyroid surgery three years ago!
